Sliding genioplasty with hyperactive mentalis - Will an implant cause bone erosion? (photo)

I am not happy with my profile, I feel that my chin is rather recessed creating an imbalanced look. I have been researching both chin implants and sliding genioplasty. I have a hyperactive mentalis muscle that I currently get treated with bocouture. My question is with the hyperactive mentalis muscle could a chin implant cause bone erosion? And would a sliding genioplasty be a better option for me? Also also would I still need to treat my chin with botox after either surgery? Thank you

The amount of recession in your case is significant and I prefer the sliding genioplasty in cases like this. Generally, the lip incompetence is improved and there is less hyperactivity of the mentalis muscle. Chin implants do sometimes cause a settling effect on the bone and there can be some bone resorption.

When the lips 'strain' to touch / close; the best approach is always a genioplasty. Yes, the pressure from  the lip strain/closure will alter the implant position as you noted and also not deal with the increased vertical height of the chin itself
