A few years ago I had permanent chin filler injected (Aquamid) I haven't had any issues with it. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea, I now want to have double jaw surgery with a sliding genioplasty to fix this as I cant tolerate the CPAP and I feel terrible all the time. From my research Aquamid cannot be removed, can I still get a sliding genioplasty, like can they cut below the filler on the bone? Or am I no longer a candidate for this procedure. Thanks

Once the bone has completely healed from the first surgery, it is possible to have a reduction genioplasty. However, being a revision, you are at a slightly higher risk for complications, and it may not be possible to get your chin 100% back to its original position. That being said, we can make...
A horizontal advancement genioplasty will always give the appearance of a longer face because a recessed chin gives the appearance of a short face. The step-offs usually resolve spontaneously but can be made smooth at 6 months.
