Pea sized lump on bridge of nose that moves with the skin (Photo)

Question

I had an open rhinoplasty 6 months ago and I am happy with the way my nose looks from the side, but from the front you can see a pimple-shaped lump on the bridge of my nose. I can definitely feel a hard lump (that isn’t a spot). However, when I tape my nose at night, in the morning the lump feels smaller and grows throughout the day. Also note that I can feel a slight dip just above the bump on the bridge. Will this go away? I’m very upset and self conscious about it. Thanks

When a bump on the bridge of the nose is caused by cartilage or bone, moving the skin will result in the bump staying in the same place. Since your bump moves with your skin, this could be a small cyst on the bridge of your nose. If your rhinoplasty specialist is not comfortable removing it, please consider visiting a reputable cosmetic dermatologist. I hope this helps! Since the only Dr Joseph

It is either an irregularity in the cartilage or a cartilage graft. If it doesn’t resolve it can be addressed with a minor revision

Given that you can see and feel this, it is definitely worth discussing with your surgeon as to what it may represent. There's a chance that it's a small, displaced piece of a cartilage graft.
The pictures don't make me feel like it's scar tissue as your issue is so localized. There's also the chance that it could be a foreign body reaction to sutures, if placed.
Regardless your surgeon should have a good explanation and plan of care for you in this situation which appears able to be resolved.

I don’t think anyone can give you an accurate prediction if the lump is going to go away or improve overtime.
If it was there immediately after surgery, then you can probably judge for yourself if it’s getting better, worse or staying the same.
At six months you’re pretty well healed up from your procedure so if it’s still present, it’s most likely going to stick around.
