Morpheus 8 - no results after two sessions. Should I go back for my third treatment next month? (Photo)

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

In our office we recommend a series of 3-4 treatments spread 4 to 6 weeks apart. For a patient your age, a 3-treatment process would be sufficient. As far as a baseline for when to see results, I tell patients that they will see textural changes before they see tightening and firming of the skin. The process to make collagen (4-12 weeks) takes longer than making new skin cells. I tell patients that some may see results by the third treatment and others may not. I always remind them that the treatments I provide are a catalyst to a repair process that will take 3-6 months to complete after the last treatment. When the 6-month process is complete is when we do our post photos. I might ask your practitioner why your treatments are being spaced so far apart.

Most patients don't see their final result from Morpheus Result until about 90 days after their final treatment, so I would definitely go back for your 3rd treatment! Also make sure to express your concerns to the nurse doing your treatment, maybe she can adjust the settings and turn it up!

Morpheus 8 treatments are usually recommended as a series a few weeks apart since the effects build upon each other. It takes about 3-6 months for collagen to be stimulated so results are not immediate for everyone and can take time before seeing a visible effect. You may not see much of an improvement after just one session. Lasers tend to more effective in addressing texture changes than Morpheus8. At Grossman Dermatology we offer both modalities and sometimes even combine the two. You can also consider speaking to your provider about using more aggressive settings during your M8 sessions.

It's a little hard to see from your photos, but I can see some skin texture issues and laxity around your jowl. In your case, knowing what Morpheus settings were used is going to be the key. For reduction of fat and tightening at the jowl, the settings need to be deeper (for needle depth) and the energy may need to be higher.
Is it possible to have a consult with your provider prior to your next treatment? You could discuss your concerns and see if there is an option to change settings so that you get the results you are looking for.

Though three sessions is standard for optimal results, you may wish to go in for a consultation with your provider before having the third. You can discuss your concerns, review before/after photos, and discuss any adjustments that may be necessary to improve your outcomes.

Most patients tend to see results after the first month. Sometimes they are difficult to appreciate when the patient is self-evaluating daily. it is best to look at pictures taken from exactly the same distance and angle at least a month apart to truly appreciate the difference. Make sure that your facility is using the recommend energy levels for each area and using a multiple depth level approach.
