Answer: Decisions and outcomes Almost 100% of people who complain of a double Chin have as their Primary underlying ideology, a lack of projection or size of mandible. To assess this, we need to see the relationship between the mandible and the maxilla which requires full facial pictures. The great majority of people who have this procedure will under their profile pictures show the upper lip projecting significantly more than the lower lip and have a dental overbite occlusion. This all goes hand-in-hand with having an undersized mandible, which is underlying cause for the double chin. A double chin is not caused by either skin or fat. It is a skeletal problem to start with. That said well done Liposuction can give remarkably good results, especially on young people who have thick layers of subcutaneous fat. It’s a finesse procedure that does not require aggressive equipment like VASER. The key to a quality outcome is to remove the fat along the jawline and not try to blow up the entire neck by using more energy. It does not require removing much fat at all to get the desired results, but it has to be done with great precision and this is where most plastic certain simply don’t have the skill or experience to do their procedure right. Most plastic surgeons think that if removing fat is good, then removing more fat is better, which is the wrong approach in a delicate area like the face or neck. This is not an area that requires aggressive equipment. My personal first-hand experience with Renuvion has been fairly poor. I don’t believe the device causes anything, but added scar tissue, undesirable outcomes, and complications as well as cost money that is poorly spent. This is for both the surgeon and the patient. I simply don’t believe Renuvion does anything of value. It only causes problems, To me your result is unfortunate and had an obvious appearance of poorly done Liposuction. Correcting or improving your outcome is going to be very difficult. Attempting to replace overzealous liposuction is almost impossible. Sometimes spot treating individual areas using a very gentle hand can improve the outcome to some degree. Revision depose section is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction so any attempt at revision surgery. It should only be done in the hands of someone with a proven track record. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this kind of work is in reality very small. And Most plastic surgeons do average Liposuction and average Liposuction isn’t necessarily very good.To get exceptional results requires finding an exceptional provider and this two turns out to be really difficult. Unfortunately, most people think of liposuction is a fairly simplistic procedure and are under the impression that a board certified plastic surgeon with years of experience and overall good reviews should be able to do a good job with this procedure. This type of assumption is unfortunately often wrong and can lead to fairly unfortunate circumstances. I wish I could be more optimistic, but I am a firm believer that telling the truth is much better than trying to tiptoe around what is obvious. Give yourself six months to heal up properly. I would be very cautious about any further intervention and any attempt to improve your outcome. Should only be done after a thorough search for the right provider finding the right provider for this kind of revision work may be very difficult. Anybody who thinks correcting or improving your outcome is easy should probably be avoided. I’m sorry this happened to you. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
