The buccal fat pad is a distinct lobule of fat that is deep inside the cheek. It’s difficult to mimic the buccal fat pad after its been removed with the use of fat transfer. Fat is usually grafted much more superficially than where the buccal fat pad resides.
Different providers may have different recommendations. Fillers are always more predictable precise and far more forgiving if you don’t like the outcome.
Fat needs to be grafted in such a way that it has host tissue to support the graft. This is not necessary when using Fillers and large amounts Fillers can be placed in small spaces where fat, works better if grafted in a more diffuse manner.
