Can filler get rid of a horizontal line below nose? (Photo)

Question

I’m only 24 but I’ve had filler injected into my lips for 5 years now, I have built them up quite a lot so they are big. However, I have a horizontal indent between my nose & my lips. This must be caused by the way I smile but the amount of filler pushing the lip up must make it more promement, if I have a small amount of filler injected into the indent, will it pop it back out as such? Thanks for your question. I agree that the volume of filler you have had placed into your lips is almost certainly creating the subnasal crease you notice. Without seeing photos with you smiling, it's hard to tell if you have any dynamic issues from muscle contraction that make it more pronounced. It appears that your lip filler extends upward well beyond the natural red lip. I would work on trying to smooth out or remove some of this filler to improve on the crease. There are a few other options that could improve this, but I would be careful to add even more filler into your upper lip area in an effort to treat something likely caused by the filler to begin with. In my practice, we often do lip lift procedures to get a patient the lip shape they want, then use filler to improve the volume of their new lip shape. This seems to work very well. Warm regards.

Hi Katrina. You are correct - this line is very likely due to your lip filler pushing your upper lip up and creating a crease. I see this occur with patients that have larger lips following filler, and if it bothers the patient, I will inject filler into this line to help smooth it out. I recommend visiting an experienced injector to make sure you are a good candidate for this, but in most cases filler is able to correct this successfully. Hope this helps!
