Flawless milia extraction technique - so happy in my skin, finally!

I have been struggling with Milia for about 8 years now. I have seen multiple dermatologists and tried all the creams, gels, etc. I came to see Wendy to get them extracted and I have never been happier with my skin. She is absolutely wonderful. Her technique is flawless and makes for a very easy recovery. My skin has never been so clear and smooth. I highly recommend her and will be coming to...

Me...

Q: Within 8 weeks I've developed crepes and lines on lower cheeks when I smile. It looks like I've aged 50 years. Advice? (photos)
Answered by Blair HayesMarch 18, 2018

A: Thanks for the great question. From your photos, it appears these lines could be due to your skin being very dehydrated. While Vitamin C and RetinA are excellent products to help with collagen production, they can also make your face very dry and dehydrated if used incorrectly. This would explain why you felt that the RetinA peel made your lines even worse - because it caused even further dehydration to the skin. These products, RetinA in particular, require that you be placed on the correct dosage and gradually begin using them in order to prevent this from happening. I recommend seeing a medical provider who specializes in skin to help put you on a regimen that is more appropriate for your skin type and concerns. Hope this helps!

Q: I want a firm/defined face: I feel like my face is uneven and very jiggly. (Photos)
Answered by Blair HayesMarch 18, 2018

A: Filler are a great option to help achieve a more proportional face and to help give a more defined look. I recommend looking for an experienced injector to discuss your desired results. Best of luck to you!

Q: Collagen filler and autoimmune disease, advice?
Answered by Blair HayesMarch 18, 2018

A: Thanks for the excellent question. Patients with autoimmune diseases are very often treated with bovine collagen without any issues at all. You are correct in that you are at an increased risk of adverse reactions due to having autoimmune disease, but it is by no means guaranteed to happen. If patients are going to react to the product, they will often react soon after injections, although it is still possible to have a delayed reaction years later, but this is rare. If you were already injected and have not experienced any adverse reactions thus far, I would not lose sleep over it as you will likely not have a reaction. If by chance you do react to the product, there are treatment options to help with this. Best of luck to you!

Q: What is a reliable, permanent and non-invasive method to increase collagen in the face?
Answered by Blair HayesMarch 18, 2018

A: Unfortunately there are currently no treatments on the market that are "permanent" and non-invasive. The only permanent "filler" option would be implants (i.e. cheek implants) but this option is invasive as it requires surgery. It also doesn't stimulate collagen, but mimics your collagen. Even fat grafting to the face isn't permanent since that fat breaks down over time, too. There are longer lasting fillers that stimulate your own collagen production on the market such as Bellafill and Sculptra, however these only last a few years.

We are constantly losing collagen as we age, and unfortunately there is no way to stop this process. Skincare products such as vitamin C, tretinoin, and sunscreen can help to decrease collagen loss and increase collagen production, however these are not permanent as even this collagen will break down over time.

Your best option is going to be dermal fillers combined with a proper skincare regimen. Hope this helps!

Q: Jawline and chin fillers: Will fillers help give it more of a heart shape like in the picture? (photos)
Answered by Blair HayesMarch 18, 2018

A: Thanks for the question! Yes, it is possible to use filler in the chin and jawline area to achieve the results seen in this photo; however without seeing your exact face and bone structure, it is difficult to give you a definite answer of how well this can be achieved for you. I recommend having a consult with an experienced injector to see if you're a good candidate for this. Best of luck!
