Still numb 7 months after Body Tite and Liposuction

Question

I had liposuction and Body Tite performed 7 months ago for an attempted fat transfer to my breasts. Not only did the transfer not work, but I still have extreme numbness an tightness in my sides, ribs and back area. I have a very low BMI and did at the time of the procedure. I have been getting lymphatic massage and PT since the surgery but extreme numbness and tightness is persisting. Any suggestions?

It’s not uncommon to have some numbness or other sensation changes for several months after surgery, in some cases up to a year. Most accept that permanent numbness should be less than 1% of cases. Cases where you might expect sensation changes to persist longer would be in very aggressive or large-volume liposuction, skin overlying bony areas like the rib cage, or inner arms/thighs.

Changes in sensation are not uncommon with this procedure, though most are temporary and resolve within a few months.  For some patients there can still be improvement up to a year.  For tightness you may want to begin gentle stretching exercises.
