What do I do if I need septoplasty? And also how am I 100% sure I have a deviated septum?

I have researched the topic of deviated septum to know whether I need it. I have come to the conclusion that I have many of the symptoms of a deviated septum and I most likely have it. I was wondering what I have to do in order to find out if I 100% have it. If I truly do have it, would Obama care cover my surgery? And do I contact a plastic surgeon or do I go to the doctor?

There are many issues on the inside of the nose that can create breathing difficulties such as a deviated nasal septum, turbinate hypertrophy, valve collapse, vestibular stenosis, allergies, and chronic sinusitis. Each one of these issues are treated differently with either medications and or surgery. An examination by an ENT/ facial plastic surgeon can determine the exact cause of the nasal obstruction and treat appropriately. A septoplasty is performed for medical necessity so so his best to check with your healthcare insurance to see if it is a covered benefit.

Thanks for your question. Septoplasties are commonly covered by insurance as long as you have documented that your nasal obstruction is due to this instead of allergies or something else. The first step would be to see an ear, nose, and throat doctor to be evaluated. A facial plastic surgeon would also be able to help you with this. Dear pupplyloverxo_, Deviated septum is diagnosed with an examination. Once the surgeon looks in your nose during examination the degree of deviation can be diagnosed. Many surgeons like myself do complimentary consultations so you can start the process by a simple exam. As far as Obama care I am not sure what they cover or how their network of surgeons works.
