I have had a nasal septum deviation for several years now stemming from a broken nose when I was young. Over the years I have noticed that my eyes have started to appear very small which I think is a result of weak muscle tone. I also have been unhappy with how I look from the side. What are my options when it comes to correcting these several issues which I have and what would be the average estimated cost? Would I be able to have everything addressed in one setting?
Answer: How can I improve my looks? Hello abhakta91,Thanks for your question. You have natural amounts of asymmetry that account for much of what you see, especially with regards to your eyes. There are procedures that can lift the resting position of your eyelids, called ptosis surgery, that can give you a more open and alert look. That being said, your eyelid position looks to be in the normal range. I recommend consulting with an ASOPRS fellowship trained oculoplastic surgeon in your area about elective ptosis surgery. As far as the rest of your face is concerned, from the pictures you have submitted, you might benefit from a rhinoplasty to improve the position and size of your nose while maintaining a masculine look. I also think that VASER liposuction under your jawline to outline your jaw better would help. Finally, I feel like a chin implant positioned low on the front of the chin would elongate and narrow the lower half of your face increasing the angularity.South Asian faces can often seem rounder than faces of our Western counterparts. These procedures I am recommending would blend these differences away.Costs for these procedures are going to vary widely from surgeon to surgeon, and by location. When you take into account the surgeon's fee, facility fees, and anesthesia costs, you are looking at probably $12-17k out of pocket expenditure in total. The good thing is that these procedures can all happen in one surgical setting.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Answer: Rhinoplasty for crooked nose and septoplasty for breathing A rhinoplasty can accomplish straightening the crooked nose. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are required to straighten the bridge line. A cartilaginous spreader graft will also be required on the concave side in the mid vault area. A tip rhinoplasty can also adjust the lower lateral cartilages of the nasal tip. The dorsal hump can be shaved down to improve the profile. A septoplasty can be performed in the back of the nose to improve air flow through it for medical necessity. Both a rhinoplasty and septoplasty can be performed at the same time under one anesthesia with one recovery period. For more information and many examples, please see the link and video below

Answer: Deviated septum Thanks for your question. In my opinion you would be best served by addressing your deviated nose first for a couple of reasons. First, you may not breathe very well which by itself is an excellent reason to undergo nasal surgery. Your nose can certainly be made straighter and the hump can be removed to improve your profile view. I would recommend this prior to addressing any concerns with the eyes. The nose and its position can greatly affect how the eyes appear, thus you perception of your eye issues will likely be very, very different after corrective nasal surgery. A consultation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon should better help you understand you options. Hope this helps.
