2 months after bilateral turbinate reduction and septoplasty, is your nose extra sensitive to chemicals?

I was working in my chemistry lab and we were dealing with phenol, even though I was at the normal distance from the bottle that everyone else was i suddenly felt very light headed and had to sit down. No I did not get a phenol burn, I was wondering if its possible that my nose is perhaps more sensitive?
