Genioplasty to fix asymmetry? (Photo)

Question

I had 7 years of orthodontics and am happy with my bite. I have a strong but recessed chin with an asymmetry on the right side due to chondyle hypoplasia. The right side of my face is smaller and as I age I am experiencing a Jowel on the right side. I also don't like how my chin looks in picture or my profile especially on the right. What can be done for this?

Thank you for your pictures.  In my opinion, a sliding genioplasty to correct your chin asymmetry would be reasonable.  You need to make sure that your jaw does not have this same asymmetry.  I would visit with a board certified oral surgeon or board certified plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

You can correct the chin 'asymmetry' with a sliding genioplasty and contour the jawline with tapering strips of implants to enhance and define the jawline. The 'jowel' area appears at your age due primarily to a reduced bone support; so that the soft tissue 'overlaps' the jawline more readily. The 'slope' of your jawline also contributes to this appearance. The asymmetry would ideally be more balanced extending to the 'angle' of the jaw, as well
