I am noticing a drop in my lower face and it appears that I'm slowly developing jowls. I've tried Ultherapy 3 times to correct my skin laxity in the lower face but haven't received the results I desired. I have also used filler in my cheeks, prejowl sulcus and behind my "jowl" to help straighten my jawline. At 38 years old, is it possible that I may need a form of surgical skin tightening?
Answer: Am is candidate fora "mini facelift"? Hello! Thank you for your question! I hope that these answers help! You certainly are a candidate, however, I am not confident that you need one. The facelift procedure is an excellent method for shaping the face and create a sculpted face and jawline as well tightening the laxity of your skin and soft tissue. This will rid much of the wrinkles and laxity while adding volume to your face which has been lost with normal facial aging. It is a popular procedure for facial rejuvenation and restoration of a more youthful and invigorated appearance that will last for several years. Women of all ages are candidates for these surgical procedures. There is a trend for younger patients to do smaller procedures at earlier ages and maintain the appearance, rather than a drastic result later in life which is very noticeable. Given your desires, I do not foresee any changes associated with aging or laxity, but difficult to tell without an examination. If not, skin care and procedures for non-surgical facial rejuvenation (e.g, fillers, lasers, peels, etc,) may be the better option and meet your goals. You should consult with a plastic surgeon well-versed with facial aesthetic surgery at anytime to go over options in order to assist you in deciding which procedure(s) would be right for you. Best wishes!

Answer: Non-Surgical Face Lift / Skin Resurfacing with Renuvion/J-Plasma -- add Lasers, Microneedling/PRP, Ultherapy, FaceTite In our practice, we perform a non-surgical face lift / skin resurfacing treatment using Renuvion Helium Plasma Radiofrequency. To get the most improvement with skin tightening, we combine Renuvion (formerly J-Plasma) with lasers (Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant, CO2), microneedling/PRP, Ultherapy and InMode FaceTite. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Am I a candidate for a "mini facelift"? Thank you for your question. Typically, I will not see patients under the age of 40 for facial procedures. Doing an operation such as a facelift will not give you a significant enough result at this point to justify the cost and potential risks of undergoing surgery. In my opinion, you should explore your non-surgical options first. Fillers such as Voluma and Sculptra can help to lift the mid and lower face. You can revisit the need for a facelift in 5-10 years.
