The best way to assess your breast size with respect to your anatomy and give true advice would be an in-person exam with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of breast procedures annually. Not only does proportion depend upon the aesthetic balance of your breasts with your shoulders, waist, hips, and buttocks, but also upon your objectives, active lifestyle, soft tissue quality, muscular anatomy, and long-term concerns.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
At5’4 and 120 lbs, your BMI is 21 so you are quite thin. A DDD may be disproportionate for your bodybut that is subjective. If you areinterested in reducing your breast or lifting your breast, I recommend TheBellesoma Method. This will reshape yourbreast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate themhigher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. The weight of the breast is transferred tothe underlying pectoralis major muscle resulting in pain relief withoutexcessive reduction. Vertical scars areavoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Hello and thanks for your post and questions. After reviewing your description, height and weight, it seems that you would potentially be a fantastic candidate to have a breast reduction and lift using the Bellesoma technique with NO vertical scar! With this technique you should be able to reach a smaller, but perky and proportional breast size that fits your frame along with achieving upper pole fullness. Without a photo and physical exam it is impossible to be absolutely accurate, but likely the breast that would fit your body best would be in the C+/D range. You've provided great information - the only thing that would be more helpful in order to give you the best advice about your options would be an in-person exam.Bellesoma is a new breast reduction and lift technique that seems like it would be a great fit for you. This procedure utilizes 3-D volumetric scanning and a multi-point measuring system to design a precise surgical blueprint exactly tailored to your body and the reduced breast size that you desire. The Bellesoma procedure reduces the sagging and weight of your breast, lifts your breast and reduces areola diameter, preserves the nipple sensation and ability to breast feed. After Bellesoma, your breasts will look as full and perky as if an implant had been placed without using any implant, so no need to compromise. One of the huge positives of this technique is that there is NO vertical incision traveling down the front of your breasts. Some of the differences between Bellesoma and the traditional breast reduction/lift techniques:-Bellesoma creates upper pole fullness that traditionally needed an implant to achieve.-There is NO vertical scar, only well-hidden scars in the fold under the breast, and around the areola.-The breast is dynamically supported by attaching it to the muscle, so there is no recurrence of sagging which are expected with traditional lifts or reductions.-The entire central portion of the breast is undisturbed, so nipple sensation remains intact and is very unlikely to be compromised giving the best possible chance for future breast feeding.-For absolute best results, patients should have a stable weight and have a BMI under 30.The procedure is accomplished by using the skin of the lower pole of the breast (the part below the nipple that sits in the bra cup) to shape the whole breast into a perky dome, then straps are made of the extra skin, anchoring it to the underlying chest muscle so that there is virtually no chance of repeat sagging. The skin that above your nipple and below your collar bone is utilized to cover the perky, lifted dome that has been created and then a new (usually smaller) circular opening for the areola is placed at the high point of the cone, creating your new lifted, full and shapely breast. From your description, you seem to be a very good candidate for this new technique and should really get the look that you are desiring without implants or any unnecessary visible scars. I would recommend that you search for an ABPS board certified plastic surgeon who is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in your area or an area that you would like to travel to on holiday who offers the Bellesoma technique to discuss your breast reduction and possible results. You've provided great information - the only thing that would be more helpful in order to give you the best advice about your options would be an in-person exam.Best wishes!Daniel Brown, MD, FACSBoard Certified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic SurgeonsMember American Society of Plastic SurgeonsCastle Connolly Top DocReal Self Top 500
There is no "right answer"; patient preferences play a very large role when it comes to determining final size achieved with breast reduction surgery. My best advice: select your plastic surgeon carefully. Make sure that he/she has significant experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. Before undergoing the breast reduction procedure it will be very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon (who you should choose very carefully). With the goal of improving communication with my patients I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “B or C cup” means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Once you have communicated your goals carefully, your plastic surgeon will be able to provide you with an estimation of how much tissue will need to be removed, in order to achieve your desired outcome.Best wishes
For almost all women a C-cup is a proportional breast size. A C-cup is actually less breast volume on a person with a smaller frame and more breast volume on a person with a larger frame. However breast sizes smaller and larger than C can be proportional as well, depending on your preference. Go see a board certified plastic surgeon and she/he will help guide you. Best wishes!
Dear Shelmuth,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. You may want to look into the Bellesoma Breast Reduction technique - it provides an exceptional breast lift, upper pole fullness, relief from neck and back pain, and no vertical breast lift scar. It uses a woman’s OWN breast tissue to produce an internal suspension technique, without the need for a breast implant. It does not disturb the nipple, areola, or breast glands, so sensation and the ability to lactate is preserved. It uses 3D scanning of your breasts and body to design a procedure specifically designed for YOU, and you alone. Finally, for patients who desire breast enlargement, it can be combined with fat grafting. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck! Although you sound larger than average for your size, there is no "Norm". If you are interested in changing your breast size, seek out 2-3 experienced surgeons and go for consultations. Be sure to take photos to the consult of young women who have the breast size and shape and overall look that you would prefer.
