When a breast lift is performed we use "cookie cutters" or devices that set the size of the areolas. So the initial cuts in the areolas are the same. However, each breast is different, so the end incision lengths/amount of skin is different. This can lead to different tension on the skin around the incisions. When the stitches are placed it can be tightened down so that the areolas are different sizes. Often they will stretch back out to the size they were originally cut. However, this can take months.
