What you are experiencing is one reason why I tighten the abdominal wall to return it to an anatomic norm rather than tighten it as much as possible. This produces a functional result without producing prolonged discomfort. The tightness will diminish over time.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
If you had a muscle repair then the tightness is the suture repair of your muscles holding them intact. You may experience tightness with elevated physical activity or after a big meal. The repair is holding and will fight bulge. If everything looks fine, you should be fine. Think about circling back to your plastic surgeon for some input and an exam in person.
I think that feeling of tightness will eventually improve. It can take longer for some. Glad you are happy with the result. Best wishes.
Sometimes the plication of the muscles causes issues for patients as they feel tightness when they stretch. Sometimes it is scar tissue under the flap. Usually in both cases this eventually improves.
Thank you for your question. This all should relax - it will just likely take additional time. It's hard to know if by pulling you mean actually along the incision, or if you had some muscle tightening at the time of the surgery. While you may still feel this, there is little that can be done to improve it - besides just waiting it out. A light massage may help, and sometimes a surgeon can inject a steroid to help - but usually this is for cases where the scar is very raised or red. If you have continued concerns, you may want to just check with your Plastic Surgeon - but chances are, with time, you will be just fine. Best of luck!

The lumpiness, swelling, itching and hardness after a surgery like you had typically persists at least 8 weeks after the surgery then slowly goes away. In my experience, daily massage of the hard areas makes the biggest difference in getting rid of it sooner rather than later. It can easily take...
