I just had brachioplasty done and I was under the impression that I was going to have liposuction done and he didn't do that. He said he only doesn't that if there's a lot of fat on the sides by the breasts. I don't understand why he wouldn't since that would give him more skin to tuck....

When liposuction is performed during an arm lift, that means more skin can be removed, and the arms can be contoured better. However, this is just their opinion. I'm sure your plastic surgeon did their best to get you the best results possible. Some surgeons are just afraid of performing liposuction on the arm and tightening up the arm for fear of the wound opening. This has to do more with blood supply and swelling. If you are dissatisfied with your results, please consult with your plastic surgeon for perhaps a revision surgery. If there is only loose skin, and very little excess fat, then there is little to be gained by doing the liposuction, and I just do the skin excision. Based on his/her evaluation he/she determined that liposuction would not be beneficial in addition to the arm lift. I think you need to have a discussion as to his/her concerning the reasons why this was not perform as you understood it would be. Good luck.

Answer: Brachioplasty This a case of unfortunate no communication between doctor and patient.Before surgery in the preoperative area where the marking is done, you and the doctor should have re affirmed what surgery is being done and agreed on the plan of surgery.

Not all patients who have a brachioplasty need lipo at the same time, but it sounds like you were expecting that to be done.
