Nose still swollen and tender after 5 days?

Hello . I had a septoplasty (29th November) to correct a deviated septum and have 2 splints removed in a few days (7 dyas after surgery). My question/concern: My nose is still sore and swollen and very tender to touch. Is ths 'normal' after 5 days of recovery? Thank you, in advance.

Great question. Any post operative pain and swelling that is in excess of you have been told to expect should be brought to the attention of your surgeon. I always tell my septoplasty patients to expect pain, numbness, and/or tingling of the nose, front teeth and/or roof of the mouth for a few hours to a few weeks after.  Many surgeons leave stents in the nose for a week or so, I take my patient's stents out the next afternoon - there are pros and cons to both practices.  I hope this helps.
