Is it normal to retain water after Breast Augmentation?

I had my ba on 28 and everything went well so far, my breasts are not so swollen anymore, I don't take any meds and am having no pain. Buuut, It's day 8 post op now and I have still 10 kg of water in my body! It's not getting worse but not getting better either! I'm so unhappy, I try to walk a lot, don't eat salt and drink 2,5-3liters water a day. Also I got some waterpills yesterday but they didn't worked! I've never experienced this befor, it's painless but I'm huge EVERYWHERE! Why is this happening?

It is very common to have water retention after any type of surgery.  You are only 8 days out.  This swelling may last for weeks.  Please tell your plastic surgeon your concerns.

Having swelling and water retention after breast augmentation is normal but 20 lbs is an awful lot. Best to be seen by your doctor.

Thanks for your question. Having water retention after BA is normal, your body will tend to retain fluid as a result of soft tissue swelling that occurs after any surgical procedure. The recuperation varies from a woman to another, remenber that this is part of the healing proceses. I recommend to talk to your surgeon to prescribe you a medication to help you, but please do not prescribe yourself. Best Wishes

It is normal to retain fluid after a surgical procedure.   It varies by individual, but some retain very little and some retain quite a lot.  Most of the time the problem resolves spontaneously but occasionally the kidneys must be nudged a little and a diuretic is prescribed.  You say you have taken "water pills".  If they were over the counter, then you will need a prescription medication.  If you already have a prescribed medication, then you will need a higher dose.  Check with your surgeon.  Good luck.
