Shampoo and hot shower after breast augmentation?

You should always follow any specific post-op guidelines your plastic surgeon suggests. That said, at this stage in the recovery process, you should have no issues with using shampoo and enjoying a hot shower as normal, particularly if your scars appear to be healing well. If you are in any doubt as to how well you are healing or how to proceed with any aspect of aftercare, you should contact your plastic surgeon and defer to their recommendations.

I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.

At this point in time, you should be able to shower normally with hot water, however, I recommend that you get the final OK from your surgeon, as he or she is best qualified to give you your postop instructions. Good luck!

If all is healed in then shampoo and hot water should be fine 2 weeks after breast augmentation.

Shampoo and a hot shower should not be an issue two weeks post-op. If you are concerned about it, call your surgeon's office and ask him or one of his medical staff members.

Shampoo certainly will not hurt any incision two weeks after surgery.  It is unlikely that warm water will harm an incision two weeks out, but I probably would avoid "hot" water for another few weeks, just in case.  Why take any chances?  Really though, only your surgeon can be the one clearing you for certain activities after surgery.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

At this stage it should be fine to shower as normal. I would be a little careful with the temperature on your breasts. You may have temporary reduced sensation and could accidentally burn yourself if the water is too hot. Otherwise you should be fine and shampoo should cause no problems.

Hello and thank you for your question. As long as there is routine healing, showering is fine two weeks post operatively. It is always best to check with your own plastic surgeon with any post operative questions you may have. I typically allow my patients to shower 24 hrs after surgery. Thank you for your question.  I allow my patients to shower the day after surgery once I have seen them in my office.  I do tell my patients not to soak in a bath, pool, jacuzzi, ocean, until the incisions are completely healed (2-3 weeks).  Good luck!
