I'm a 35 year old female. These under-eye bags and tear troughs seem to be a family thing because even my 20 year old sister has them. Is Juvederm better than Restylane? Also, how can I find a practice where the MD performs these injections, instead of a "nurse injector"? Is this something I can ask when setting up an appointment? To the MD it may be a "routine" procedure but this is my face and I want a qualified person working on it, not a nurse from a "med spa".
Answer: Treating Eye Bags A dermal filler such as Restylane is a good choice and would be placed in the cheek and tear trough to hide the depression or bag underneath your eye. An alternative would be another surgery which would require a fat-repositioning lower lid blepharoplasty. I hope this helps!

Answer: Under Eyes Hello,Thank you for your question. Restylane is much better under the eyes. The Juvederm has a slight blue tint that can sometimes be seen under the eyes. It is completely okay to ask if the MD performs the procedure. You can use RealSelf and NewBeauty to find doctors and see Before and After photos. You should also consider meeting with doctors and having a consultation before proceeding with a treatment. Good luck!

Answer: Juvederm or Restylane Hi CDiaz. Good question. The choice of product is largely a function of injector preference. We prefer Restylane as it is slightly smoother under the eyes than other products like Juvederm. But it's likely that you will find your injector first and then go with the recommended product as these two products are very similar. Re: which practitioner for injections...in the Southern California area, especially with plastic surgeons, it is very common for nurses to do all the injections while surgeons do all the surgery. A good question to ask is how often the procedure is performed by your injector and can you see before and after photos. There is no formal training for injection procedures in medical or nursing school, it's all on the job learning. So skill is not always a function of title, experience plays a big part. Good luck and to view nurse administered under eye injection before and after photos, click on the link below.

Answer: Improving Under Eye -- Fillers (Belotero, Volbella, Restylane Silk), Fraxel, Microneedling/PRP These fillers (belotero, volbella, restylane silk) are good for under the eye, but keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. I suggest consulting with a cosmetic dermatologist to develop a treatment plan best suited for your short and long term goals. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Lower lid fillers Restylane and Belotero are the 2 best fillers for the lower lid and tear trough as they do not create significant edema Juvederm ultra and ultra plus are well known to cause edema in the lower lids which can last for many months or years. The newer Juvederm products which are not as hydrophilic (don't attract as much water) may be ok there.
