Can kenalog steroids change the shape of my nose. Currently I’m not happy with my result. I have thick skin and lots of swelling I don’t like the shape at all. Can kenelog injections help?
Answer: Kennalog injections may be helpful for supratip swelling. In our experience, steroid injections are only helpful for swelling in the area just above the nasal tip. It is not helpful for diffuse nasal swelling after rhinoplasty surgery. If you would like, feel free to re-ask your question with photographs. Thank you. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Kenalog injections for the nose Thank you for your query. While carefully injected steroids can decrease the swelling, you can also lose subcutaneous fat, leading to irregularities in the contours of your nose. I would not recommend using kenalog for improving the shape of your nose. Please find an experienced board certified Rhinoplasty surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best!

Answer: Steroid injections Hello and thank you for your question. The final results take at least 1.5 years for the swelling to fully resolve. This can require lots of patience and waiting. Steroid injections performed by your surgeon can be extremely helpful. I usually start steroid injections around 1 to 2 months after surgery and continue as needed. However, this will really depend on the techniques used by your surgeon and I recommend that you maintain close follow up with your surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Answer: Steroid Injections vs Rhinoplasty Hello, Kenalog (triamcinolone) steroid injections have the potential to alter the appearance of the nose, but it is essential to understand their primary purpose and limitations. These injections are typically used to address post-surgical swelling or localized inflammation, not to intentionally reshape or modify the nose’s structure. When injected improperly or into areas of normal cartilage or tissue, steroids can lead to complications such as dermal atrophy, tissue thinning, or irregularities, which might unintentionally affect the nose’s contour. For this reason, the procedure must only be performed by an experienced and qualified surgeon with expertise in rhinoplasty and injectable treatments slowly, over time. The technique requires precision and a conservative approach. The dosage must be carefully controlled, and treatment is often spread out over multiple sessions rather than a single appointment. This gradual approach minimizes risks and allows the surgeon to monitor the response closely. It is important to note that while Kenalog injections can help reduce swelling and refine results after rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, they are not a substitute for surgical interventions. Their effects are limited to addressing specific soft-tissue concerns rather than achieving significant structural or aesthetic changes. If you are considering this treatment, a consultation is essential to determine whether steroid injections are appropriate for your specific concerns and goals. All the best,

Answer: Dr Paweł Szychta Kenalog injections contain a corticosteroid that can help reduce persistent swelling and scar tissue after rhinoplasty, especially in individuals with thick skin. By decreasing inflammation and softening scar tissue, these injections may improve the contour of your nose's soft tissues. However, they cannot change the underlying bone or cartilage structure. It's important to consult your surgeon to determine if Kenalog injections are suitable for you and to discuss potential benefits and risks.
