Will sleeping face down 1 year after rhinoplasty cause any damage?

Hi, I'm currently 1 year and 4 months post op rhinoplasty. Sometimes I will wake up with my face pressed into the pillow, I understand everything is fully set in place by now but can accidentally smushing it around into the pillow while I sleep do any damage? I'm usually pretty good about sleeping on my back but sometimes when I sleep on my side I still get super worried and I'm scared I could accidentally put too much pressure on it while I sleep and "break" it. Thanks!

As far as I can understand from your question you should not lie on it as much as possible, sleeping on your back and side is important in terms of protecting your nose, we recommend our patients to be careful after nose surgery.

The answer is no. You do not need to worry. The most important period for healing from rhinoplasty is the first 3 months. After that , you are free to continue with your daily activities.

Have had unfortunate cases of people being elbowed in the nose, typically by a spouse, and that may lead to a change in somebody's nasal appearance. Sleeping in the prone position is fine. I hope this helps, and thanks for this question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

In terms of developing tissue strength after surgery, you can probably assume that things are pretty solid at six weeks.
When plastic surgeons talk about 12 months for results to be final, they are referring to very subtle levels of swelling that can persist causing very small aesthetic changes.
 I’ve never heard of rhinoplasty results being altered because of sleeping position.
All the things to be concerned about this one should probably be low on the list.
Number one on the list should be provider selection.
