Hair transplant falling out after head massage and sauna? (Photos)

Hi Doctors, Hair transplants fall I had my hair transplants in October 15th, and earlier this week (around 2 months after the surgery), I was having a week of which I had it in one of the detox resorts. There I had a head massage (15min session) and sauna for 20min, after taking shower I noticed that all the hair transplanted was falling down. Is this normal?, I have attached some photos one day before having the massage and a day after. Regards, Moataz

A massage does not cause hair loss.  Saunas do not cause hair loss.  If you are having hair loss and believe it is related to the massage and sauna, it is best to follow up with your doctor.   In general, transplanted hairs shed in a few weeks.

2 weeks after the FUE operation you may start to gym, heavy excersizes and swimming. Jogging, running,sauna, cycling etc don't give any harm after 2 weeks of operation . Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head.New hair at transplant/recipient area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .

Your surgeon likely told you that many of the transplanted hairs will shed after the surgery.  This is normal.  Nevertheless, it is a good idea to follow up with him/her and express your concerns.  Remember, the main culprit in hair loss is DHT (DiHydroTestosterone). Hair loss due to massage is unlikely and any loss from that treatment would be temporary.

At this point in time, you should be normal an unable to lose grafts, even with a massage and sauna. What you are seeing is probably late normal shedding
