Am I draining too much two weeks after a tummy tuck?

I am a healthy 23 year old male who lost 123 lbs naturally. I had a tummy tuck with liposuction exactly two weeks ago. About three days ago my totals were 30 cc on my left drain and 40 cc on my right drain. I started walking more on the treadmill and in the last two days my totals have increased at least 10 cc per drain. Is this normal?

Tummy tucks after weight loss have a high risk of developing fluid collections. These fluid collections, called seromas, can be problematic if they occur. Your plastic surgeon left drains in to decrease the risk of a seroma. It is not uncommon for the drains to increase slightly as your activity increases. The key is to make sure to care for them and keep them clean in the shower. Your plastic surgeon will know when to take them out based in the drainage record you keep. As long as the consistency of the drains did not change much and otherwise you feel well, then a small increase with exercise is normal. If you have any concern about the drainage color or consistency then seek your plastic surgeon. Congrats on the weight loss! Best wishes,

Congratulations on your weight loss. It is not unusual to have the amount of drainage you describe. Drainage can definitely increase when your activity level increases. If the quality and appearance of the drainage have not changed from before then there is little cause for concern. Good luck with your recovery!
