Can soft tissue and skin retract almost 6 months post op FFS? (Photos)

Im 20 years old and I had a brow lift, brow bone reduction, forehead contouring, jaw and chin reduction. My skin feels a little loose and I have a little jowling. It’s not a lot but it’s definitely noticeable. I’ve been doing a lot of research and everyone says 6-12 months is when I will see results so I’m scared things are never gonna get better. I’m too young for a face lift but I really see the jowling. My face looks off when I talk. Could things get better? What are my chances?

It is important to keep in mind that cosmetic surgery, like any other surgical procedure, can take time to heal and for the final results to become apparent. Swelling, bruising, and skin tightness are common after any type of facial surgery, including brow lift, forehead contouring, and jaw and chin reduction, and it may take several months for these symptoms to subside and for the final results to be visible.

In general, it is recommended to wait at least six months to a year before considering any additional corrective surgery or procedures, as this allows enough time for the initial healing process to take place and for the final results to become apparent.

That being said, if you are concerned about the appearance of jowling or loose skin after your previous procedures, it is important to schedule a follow-up consultation with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and to explore any potential treatment options that may be available. Depending on your individual circumstances, there may be non-surgical options, such as injectable fillers or skin tightening treatments, that could help to improve the appearance of jowling or loose skin without the need for further surgery.

Ultimately, the chances of improvement will depend on a variety of factors, including the specific procedures you had, your individual healing process, and your overall health and lifestyle. Thank you for the question. After a jaw reduction, the soft tissues should shrink down to the bone and this takes about 6-12 months to occur. However, if there are contour irregularities to the bone, this may show through the skin. Additionally, if considerable contouring was required to the bone, there can be excess skin that is no longer supported by bone, creating an appearance of jowling. I am not quite sure that you have true jowling by looking at your photos, but there may be a potential irregularity in contour of the soft tissues. There can also be muscle irregularities in the chin which creates dimpling in the chin area. Botox to the chin can help this, but it is temporary. Waiting for 6-12 months can allow everything to settle into a final position to see the results.

Hello, You are still quite young and that is a good thing for good tissue tone. It is difficult to tell from the photos if there is a divot on your right side. At any rate, minor fat liposuction at the "jowling" area of your jaw you are speaking about could help. Also if there is a divot there, a filler will help. An in person live examination is necessary because the photos are not telling the whole story.
