Dear Donna87: ":As the septum goes so goes the nose" Your best bet is with a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon or someone with both certifications. Experience in rhinoplasty is key. Revision work should not be attempted by an infrequent practitioner. Look for a doctor who is a member of the Rhinoplasty Society. Good luck and I hope this helps!
A septoplasty is performed in the back of the nose to only improve airflow dynamics. A Septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose
Hello Donna,If you are looking to improve the appearance of your nose then you are referring to a rhinoplasty. A septoplasty is a procedure to "straighten" the septum inside the nose. The septum is like a wall in a room that divides it into 2 sides. When the septum is deviated it can make one side more difficult to breath out of. Based on your question I think you are unhappy with the appearance, which would refer to a rhinoplasty and not septoplasty. Either way you should see someone who has experience with the procedures. Good luck,Dr. Dominic
