How long will the results of the gentle yag laser treatment last. It was recommended 8 treatments 1 per week for 4 weeks and one there after every other week for a total of 8 treatments...should they be staggered over a longer period of time for maximum results...I am 60 yrs old very active
Answer: Fraxel vs Gentle Yag Thank you for your question. Fraxel can be in several different wavelengths. A Gentle Yag laser is ususally used to treat skin discolorations. My recommendation is to seek evaluation from an experienced laser practioner who has several devices to choose from. I hope this helps!

Answer: Fraxel versus gentle YAG Your question is not possible to answer based on the information provided. Fraxel is a name brand and there are several types of lasers falling under this brand, some of which treat more aggressively than others. YAG laser treatments are completely different from fractional resurfacing treatmentsAnd, whichever fractional resurfacing procedure you're referring to, it is very difficult to make head to head comparisons. I strongly recommend seeking someone with a great deal of expertise in laser resurfacing who you trust and following their recommendation.

Answer: Gentle Yag vs Fraxel As you are 60, perhaps they recommended lasers for skin improvement for sun damage. The Gentle Yag and other long pulsed yag lasers can, in addition to performing hair removal, improve the quality of the skin to an extent. These are mild lasers and for mild improvements in texture and tone, redness and flushing, they can be helpful. If the skin requires more, has mild to moderate lines, or is at all lax, then using lasers such as the Fraxel Restore, that penetrate much deeper and with more heat, are often preferred. Fraxel Restore laser is typically performed as a series of 4-6 treatments and can work well in a properly selected patient. Those with acne scars respond well to Fraxel. For older patients with significant lines, lax skin and photo damage, although the previously mentioned lasers work, then cannot compare to an ablative laser such as the fractional CO2 (mixto, Fx, Fraxel Repair). Ablative lasers require patient downtime of 5-10 days depending on the aggressiveness of the procedure. The deeper the resurfacing, generally the longer the results persist. It is the patient's own body that remodels the skin in response to the laser heat. All patients though, as they age, need to slow the process with additional approaches such as fillers and botox to address all the issues involved in photo aging.

Answer: One is gentle, the other is more gentle... The answer is not so simple, as Fraxel can be in many different wavelengths. This treatment can be 'adjusted' with the power and passes. Fraxel 1927 is the gentlest of all Fraxels, and downtime is only 5-7 days. This is a Fractional Laser- namely it treats a certain percentage of your skin. This is ideal for pigmentation and improvement of skin texture. If performed correctly, one treatment will yield outstanding results. Now, gentle ND Yag is also called ' skin toning' this laser is non ablative- meaning your downtime should be ZERO, only mild redness after the laser treatment is the end point. The flip side? You will require 8-10 treatments. Nd Yag works by 1. Treatment of pigment 2. Skin toning- gentle collagen stimulation given the deep penetration of the laser (1064 wavelength). Both treatments have their use, the most important aspect is WHO performs the treatments? The choice is yoursCheersDr Davin Lim Laser dermatologistwestderm.com.au Brisbane, Australia.

Answer: Gentle Yag vs Fraxel I'm not sure what you are trying to treat, but these treatments are very different. A Gentle Yag laser is just that - a YAG laser. It tends to treat reds in the skin and skin discolorations. A Fraxel is not actually a laser. It is a fractionated energy source that removes some areas of skin that then allows new collagen to be produced in these areas, allowing for a resurfacing. They are not similar, they are not the same, and really, a lot of times we use both to treat the same person since they are used for very different things.
