Is there a difference in the final results of an intramuscular implant, whether it is circular or Motiva ergonomix?
Answer: Yes. Thank you for your question. The answer is more detailed than can be provided in this forum, but in the hands of an experienced plastic surgeon, a beautiful result should be achievable both with placement of the implant above or below the muscle. It is never “intramuscular” which means “in the muscle” but either beneath it or above it. Implant manufacturer (Motiva, Mentor, Allergan) makes very little difference in the final outcome. The most important variable is your plastic surgeon. I recommend you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon whose results appeal to you based on his or her Before and After gallery. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Implants Smooth round implants will have a teardrop shape under the muscle when standing, and long term, have fewer risks. I only use smooth round implants after over 35 years of practicing plastic surgery. I have used many different kinds of implants throughout the years and have great results and fewer problems with smooth round implants.

Answer: Cohesive Gel Implants The newer implants are made in a special way that they 'change shape.' In the USA, there are the Mentor, Allergan Natrelle, and Sientra manufacturers. Outside the USA, you have other manufacturers such as Motiva. All these companies have a very similar product in that there is a outer shell of a silicone plastic and an inner filling of a silicone cohesive gel. The result is that the implants are circular when flat, and then have a teardrop shape when upright. The implants can be placed over the pectoralis muscle or under the muscle. I prefer to place the implants under the muscle as they look better and more natural over the course of time. I think the implant diversity and selection are tremendous at this time. We are truly lucky. I wish you the best with your research. Please let me know if I can help further. Answer: Breast implants Dear Modest651440, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.
