Can breast implants and have a benign Desmoid Tumor removed within the same surgery procedure?

Removal of a benign desmoid tumor will most commonly be done by a general surgeon. Obviously breast implants should be done by a plastic surgeon. You might be able to find surgeons who work together frequently who might be able to help you.

It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.

Thank you for sharing your question. In most cases this would require two surgeons to perform, the implanting surgeon and the plastic surgeon. Although desmoids are benign they do have a large chance of recurrence and a surgical oncologist is best to track your healing and progress if surgery is determined to be needed.

Both may be done depending upon the location and size of your tumor. Once in a while, an insurance company does not cover if a cosmetic procedure is done at the same time as a insurance covered procedure. You need to check with your insurance carrier and physician first.
