Breast fat transfer is good at increasing breast size by 1/2 cup when done by a competent experienced provider. Occasionally patients can receive up to 1/4 cup, increased in breast size. Generally speaking women who have large skin envelopes and more issue to graft into can tolerate higher volume of fat graft with success. Fat grafting can increase breast size, but does not change breast shape in any significant way. A lot of women of had breast lift end up with a breast shape, the blacks volume in the upper half of the breast. That transfer does not do a good job at increasing volume in the upper half of the breast. For that implants are a far superior option. If your goal is to 10 size symmetry with some additional increase in size, but you are content with the shape of your breast fat transfer may be a good option. Overall, the results are fairly subtle even went down correctly by sufficiently experienced providers. Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction and fat transfer result is more difficult than most people believe. The number of plastic surgeons who can do these procedures well on a consistent basis is a relatively small. There are major variations in outcome, especially from Liposuction, depending on who you choose as a provider. For this reason, patients should be more selective when it comes to provider selection than they think necessary. Poorly done, Liposuction can leave people disfigured and poor results are very difficult to improve upon. I recommend patient start by having at least five in person, consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who already have a proven track record for the procedure. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. As providers to show you a variety of outcome, including results that are excellent, average, and results that did not turn out as well as they had hoped. Make sure you have a very clear understanding exactly what areas will be treated with Liposuction and review each of those areas and lots of before, and after pictures shown during the consultation. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before, and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like liposuction and fat transfer. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what the average results look like in the hands of each provider. Early fat transfer results can look very impressive, but do not represent final results in any way. Always confirm the exact timeframe from Nguyen after pictures were taken from the date of the procedure. Any after pictures taken in less than 3 to 6 months from the date of surgery should not be considered representative of final results. Continue having consultations until you feel very confident you found the best provider for this procedure. Implants usually give more impressive and consistent results without the need to do liposuction. The ideal candidate for fat transfer should be a good candidate for Liposuction and a good candidate for fat transfer. Make sure your candidacy is discussed and reviewed each of the procedures. When, in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. Patient should be more selective that they think necessary for both Liposuction and fat transfer procedures. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
