1 yr post op, why did my nose tip lose definition & get bigger after Septoplasty?

This is a great question. Many times, a septoplasty can change the nose shape and tip position depending on what the surgeon did to the septum and how he got there. The tip ligaments can be disrupted during the approach to the septum and any reduction in septal height or size can potentially lead to a change in tip support allowing it to fall back closer to the face.  Often support grafts and shaping maneuvers need to now be used to restore and improve overall tip -to-nose balance. There is a lot that a rhinoplasty specializt can do. Consider choosing one who is a member of the Rhinoplasty Society, who's members are not only board certified but are comprised of plastic surgery and ENT trained nose specialists.The below gallery and website links may give you a better idea of how much your issues of concern can be changed and addressed while still looking natural.

Dear Venicegirl, I would ask your surgeon for copies of your records and any preoperative photographs. The preoperative photographs may give more answers then the operative report however it is important to have both when consulting with another surgeon. I would then suggest a consultation with an expert surgeon who can perform a direct examination while reviewing your operative notes and photographs. It sounds like more than a septoplasty was done when you had surgery. I suggest you get a copy of preoperative pictures and your operative report before seeing a surgeon who specializes in revision rhinoplasty for an examination.
