Is rhinoplasty the only way to fix tension lip?

I don’t completely hate my nose, but I hate the way the area between my nose and top lip looks, as if the skin is being pulled by my nose. I think it’s what’s causing my upper lip to look flat from the side. Is rhinoplasty the only way to correct this issue? I like my nose from the front so I’m afraid to change it, but the “tension lip” makes me hate my profile.

You have analyzed your situstion perfectly. The large hump makes it like pitching a tent, pulling up your lip. A rhinoplasty will improve it considerably. It’s a very astute observation on your part. Yes, a closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish fixing the tension lip, shaving down the dorsal hump, and decreasing projection of the nose in addition to reducing the hanging columella. All the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose. No external incisions are required, and no painful packing is required either.
