I personally would not consider having surgery from a surgeon who uses gimmicky marketing names to rename common procedures like an abdominoplasty or a lipoabdominoplasty. I can assure you that every board certified plastic surgeon is capable of giving you a smooth tummy. The exact procedure that you will need will be dictated by your anatomy. Please choose your surgeon based on education, experience, and results, not on their ability to come up with a gimmicky name to try to make their procedure sound different from everyone else's.
Hello and thank you for your question. There are numerous marketing names for what may actually be very similar types of tummy tuck procedures. I would not select this based on the name of the procedure but place much more emphasis on the results shown by your surgeon. If you are an appropriate candidate, a tummy tuck can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below thebikini line. Your muscles can also beplicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure youspecifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who havehad this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. Themost important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. Irecommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plasticsurgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
The "smooth tuck" is simply a lipo-abdominoplasty as opposed to a traditional tummy tuck. The lipo-abdominoplasty or smooth tuck removes fat from the upper and outer parts of the abdomen through liposuction and excises the area below the belly button, but there is no muscle repair. In a traditional tummy tuck, the muscle separation is repaired and the upper and lower abdomen are tightened through tissue excision. Both are good procedures but determining which is best for you is the most important choice. It is good to get a few opinions to be sure that you are getting a fair assessment. Good luck and see a board-certified plastic surgeon.
I never heard of Smooth Tuck, but it sounds like a marketing ploy. Some surgeons tag a common procedure like abdominoplasty with a catchy name to try to stand out. Most traditional tummytuck operations include removal of redundant skin, abdominal muscle plication or tightening with or without liposuction for further contour improvement. When seeking the right surgeon for your operation, Plastic surgery board certification and experience trump fancy names for procedures. Good luck!
That sounds fishy... A "smooth tuck" is not a real procedure. It's just someone trying to create a buzz about something. Check your surgeon's credentials carefully. They need to be boarded by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Good luck!
