I am 6 months out from breast augmentation. I have had some issues and called the office, the girls scheduled me on a Friday before a holiday.(worked me in) My Doctor was more focused on why I was there and it wasn't an EMERGENCY then my breast issue. (he as with me for 10 min) He is usually condescending and rude. I am NOT going back. I would like to write a letter to express my thoughts and ask for my records. any advice on what to do?
Answer: Should I Change My Plastic Surgeon I'm sorry that you had a negative experience with your surgeon. Rude and condescending behavior is never acceptable; in fact, a physician's behavior should always be highly professional and firmly aboveboard. If you do not feel that care, kindness and compassion were being expressed --along with the physician's ability to truly listen -- then you should not be there. Expressing your feelings in a letter is certainly the first step.

Answer: Rude Plastic Surgeon If you don't feel comfortable with your PS, find a new one. You can request your medical records and bring them with you to your new doctor. You may want to talk with your current PS and express your concerns.

Answer: Changing plastic surgeon It’s always unfortunate when patients do not have a good relationship with their surgeon. You can try expressing your dissatisfaction directly and tactfully, to see if the behaviour will change. If you don’t have faith that things will change, just call the office and ask for your records. It should be a relatively easy thing to do.

Answer: Change plastic surgeons? Rude and condescending. Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of your experiences with your surgeon. From your narrative you refer to him being "usually condescending and rude." As this most recent experience seems to be more the norm than not, and if it would make you feel better, then writing a letter would be a good first step. Best wishes.

Answer: Change plastic surgeons? Rude and condescending. I am sorry to hear about the experience and about the deterioration of your physician/patient relationship; this is a valuable relationship that may be hard to duplicate with a plastic surgeon who did not do your initial operation. Therefore, I would suggest that you schedule one more appointment to, in a calm and nonconfrontational fashion discuss your concerns regarding the service you have received. It may be helpful to discuss these concerns with the practice's office manager prior to in person consultation with your plastic surgeon. Hopefully, through this type of respectful communication, the relationship can be salvaged. Otherwise, what you describe (the letter and request for records) in your question may be necessary. Best wishes.
