I have 7 year old implants. Shortly after being out in my right implant felt lumpy and mis shaped. The last couple of years this same implant is getting smaller. It is very evident when braless and now becoming noticeable with a bra on. I have skin hanging away from the implant. My surgeon said it's from losing weight and body changes and not to worry about it. I am worried about it. It drives me nuts! Thoughts?

Answer: Implant getting smaller Dear thesnglprnces,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Implant changes after augmentation There can be several reasons for change in implant shape, texture and feel after augmentation. Commonly those may include capsular contracture and body changes associated with weight loss or gain. Implant rupture is always a concern. I feel that very important first step is to see a plastic surgeon who is certified by the Board of plastic surgery for a thorough evaluation. In a case like yours, I would recommend an MRI to get a close look at what is happening with your implant. I wish you the best, Dr. Gabbay.
