Is it normal to have lines (indentations) on your face after CO2 laser? I'm 8 days out and getting concerned.

I got my CO2 fractional laser (dot therapy) done 8 days ago. I'm still red and heeling but all my skin has peeled. I have these red indentation lines going down my face and cheek that look to me like scarring. I never had lines her creases on my upper lip before and now I do. Are lines normal and when do they usually go away??

Thank you for your question. True indentations after fractional CO2 laser treatment would be concerning, and you should see the treating physician.  However, if these are just demarcation lines of erythema then they should resolve with more time as only 8 days post. I hope this helps!

Thank you for your question.  Healing from a CO2 laser can take from 5 days to 4 weeks depending on how strong a treatment you received. There are no photos to view.  8 days after laser resurfacing is too early in the healing phase. Discuss ypur concerns with ypur surgeon.

Thank you for your question. Healing process can take up to 2 weeks. It can make it look worse before better. Applying moisture to the treatment area such as Cetaphil cream will help make the wrinkles less noticeable during this healing time. I hope this helps!

In my hands "lines" are not typical after co2 laser.  However, I see this often from other practioners and it is very dependant on technique and the type of laser and settings used.  I suggest going to your physician and getting post operative skin lightening creams and wound healing creams to speed up the healing process.  Best, Dr. Emer.
