My face still covered with whiteheads after CO2 laser in Nov of 2013. Any suggestions?

Question

Face puffed up until my eyes were slits 72 hours after procedure. Swelling went down. Very red for almost 5 months afterward. Redness went away leaving a rash along jawline which lasted until June of 2014. Rash went away but since June have had acne. Now only whiteheads. My face is covered in them. When my face is soapy it feels like fine grain sandpaper. There are also half a dozen eruptions on skin surface at any given time. Have tried many OTC products. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to see a cosmetic dermatologist who can see your skin, advice on a treatment plan, and implement it.  In general, all my patients 10-14 days after aggressive lasering typically get Hydrafacial to help clear up any of these issues.  As well they are started on an appropriate skin care regimen. question. Pictures would be helpful.It sounds like you may have milia.  A light chemical peel or microdermabrasion or microlaser peel may be helpful.

For my patients who are experiencing breakouts, I always recommend that they try the Alyria skincare line as it has great cleansers, moisturizers, cream exfoliators etc. These products help to dry out and clear problematic skin.
