Is there any type of aftercare that I should follow after Daxxify injectables like icing or massaging the area, avoiding certain activities or certain products? What should I expect the healing process to be like?

Hello, below is a list of aftercare instructions for Daxxify injections.

Avoid Touching or Rubbing the Treated Area
Refrain from touching, massaging, or applying makeup to the treated areas for at least 24 hours to prevent the product from migrating to unintended areas.

Stay Upright
Do not lie down or bend over excessively for the first 4–6 hours after treatment to ensure the product stays in place.

Avoid Heat Exposure
Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and sunbathing for at least 24 hours, as heat can increase swelling and bruising.

Refrain from Alcohol
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours post-treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.

Skip Strenuous Exercise
Hold off on intense physical activities for 24–48 hours to prevent increased blood flow that could affect the treatment area.

After the procedure, many healthcare professionals will likely advise you to avoid: • rubbing or massaging the treated area • strenuous exercise • facial massages or facials for the next 24 hours, to minimize the risk of the medication spreading to unintended areas. Makeup and your usual skin care regimen can generally be restarted the next day, but please check with your healthcare provider to confirm as each situation may be slightly different.

Hello,

Daxxify patient instructions are identical to the instructions given to our Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin patients.  We recommend that patients do not lie down for about 3 hours after their treatment, avoid steam rooms, sauna, and massage for 48 hours, and not rub the treated area. Icing is not usually recommended.  In preparation for any injectable treatment it is a good idea to avoid blood thinning drugs such as aspirin for about one week prior to your treatment. Do not massage, rub or put pressure over the treated area(s) for several hours after treatment as it can cause the product to drift to unwanted areas, such as below the eyebrow where it might temporarily cause a droopy eyelid by weakening the eyelid muscles. Avoid taking aspirin 10 days before treatment and naproxen and ibuprofen for 5 days before treatment as these medications increase the risk of bruising. No aftercare is really necessary and there really is no healing time after treatment. That is why botulinum neurotoxin treatments are often referred to as a "lunchtime" procedure as there usually is no significant recovery period as there is with surgical procedures. Some injectors have recommended patients actively move the treated muscles with facial expressions after treatment though I find that that isn't necessary to get the full effects.

Daxxify treatments are done in the office.  You can expect a similar treatment experience to other neurotoxins.  The most common side effects are redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site that tends to subside within a few hours.  Certain blood thinning medications and supplements should be avoided prior to treatment to minimize bruising.
