What is the risk with Daxxify migrating? Can something be done to ensure that this is prevented?

What is the risk of migration when using Daxxify and do I have any options to prevent this from happening? I understand that this product is not dissolvable and am curious about how this is prevented / handled.

Hello,
The risk of Daxxify migrating is no greater than the risk of any of the other neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau) migrating.  The most important aspect of Daxxify treatment, like any other aesthetic treatment is making sure to choose your injecting physician very carefully.  The usual precautions after any neuromodulator injection are the same for Dax.  Don't lay down for at least 3 hours, avoid massage of the area, avoid steam rooms, saunas, and jacuzzi for the first 48 hours.  Good luck and be well.

The risk of Daxxify migrating to other areas and relaxing muscles distant to the treated site can be minimized by two major things:1) Get treatment from an experienced injector, as injection technique matters. 2) Do not massage, rub or put pressure over the treated area(s) for several hours after treatment as it may cause the product to drift to unwanted areas, such as below the eyebrow where it might temporarily cause a droopy eyelid by weakening the eyelid muscles. In my experience, and in the published Daxxify studies, the risk of getting a droopy eyelid from Daxxify was very low, as it is with the other botulinum neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau).

That’s why it is so important to see an experienced injector. The FDA studies are done by doctors that very experienced with products and anatomy. The studies are done very purposefully with board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons. I was one of the FDA sites for Daxxify, and this is a great product that can potentially last longer than other BTX products currently in the market. Many patients, however, will decide to stick with the product that they have been using &mdash; especially if they like the results or like other aspects (like the company loyalty program).
