Had Botox many times and never got any bumps after. today I got botox and had bumps immediately after. Was too much injected?

Thank you for your question and I appreciate your concern. Rest assured that getting bumps that resemble mosquito bites after Botox injections is both common and temporary. The bumps should subside within a matter of hours. If you experience other side effects like pain or the bumps do not go away within a day, contact your injector for a follow-up assessment.

If the bumps subsided quickly after the treatment, they are not a significant concern. If they linger for longer than an hour or become painful, I would schedule a follow-up with your injector for further assessment.

It is possible to develop temporary bumps or swelling after a Botox injection.  I would recommend gently massaging the areas and you could also try using cool packs.  Developing bumps does not necessarily mean that too much Botox was injected.  I would mention this issue to the physician who treated you though.  

Botox comes in a form that has to be reconstituted in the office.  Different injectors will use different amounts of saline to mix the product.  It may be that your new injector uses more saline than your previous one.  The bumps should go away within 30 minutes of injection.  

Dear vannyv:Most likely your most recent injector used a lower concentration of Botox requiring that a larger volume be injected for the same number of units. Some injectors use only 1 cc per a 100-unit vial of Botox, Xeomin or Jeuveau, while others use up to 5 cc per 100 unit vial. With the larger volumes, you will see more spread of the BTX. For this reason, I use a 1 cc dilution. I do not see side effects from spread into nearby muscles. I hope you were happy with the results, and that the bumps resolved within an hour or less.Regards from Sheryl Clark MD FAAD

Hello and thank you for your question.  Having mosquito bite bumps after botox is common.  Typically they are gone within 30 minutes. If the bumps are lasting significantly longer, change in size (become larger) or painful, I would inform your provider immediately.  Hope this helps you to remain confident in your decision to do botox!    Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your question regarding botox.  Having bumps that look like mosquito bites for 15-20 minutes after the injections is to be expected.   It is
also important to keep in mind that it takes a full two weeks for botox
to take effect.  I do not recommend massaging the areas to avoid the product spreading into another muscle group.  Of course I am not able to tell via pictures for sure if
this is the correct treatment for you. 
I recommend following up with your provider or an in person
consultation with a board certified provider for a proper evaluation.

Hello. Thank you for your question. Botox can be diluted with different amounts. It's possible that the doctor you saw used a different dilution, which meant a larger amount was injected into each area. The bumps are completely normal and should go away within a half hour. It is nothing to be concerned about unless the bumps do not go away.
