I'm 4 mo post op breast augmentation, 485 hp under the muscle. They don't look good, they look unnatural just like mounds on my chest. I haven't had any complications besides my muscles were really tight at first. When i go for check-up at my PS all he says is keep massaging. He doesn't make me feel at ease at all. I expect Doctors to be reassuring but he isn't. I have seen women that took 6 to 8 months to drop. I'm just looking for some reassurance that time will improve my breasts.

Answer: Implants not dropping. Thoughts? ZeldaGirl~Thanks for posting! From the photos you provided, it does appear that your implants are still sitting a bit high but it would help to show other photos from before to compare progress. In my practice, we generally inject BOTOX Cosmetic to help encourage the implants to settle in addition to having our patients continue with breast implant massage at least 10x/day. Make sure that you are still massaging and follow-up with your Plastic Surgeon as instructed. I'm sure that he has your best interests at heart and will help guide you through this process. I hope that helps and wish you the very best!-Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

Answer: Implants dropping Implants dropping, or what I like to refer to as settling depends on multiple factors such as type of implant, soft tissue laxity, muscle rigidity, and if there is any early encapsulation. From your photos, it appears that you likely had some breast ptosis or sag before surgery, and the implants seem to be in the right position and your breast tissue is "falling off" the implant. The implants and breast tissue can match more over time and I would recommend giving up to a year for this to happen. If it doesn't, then a revision with a lift might be needed.

Answer: Implant dropping Dear ZeldaGirl, dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am.
