I had Gynecomastia surgery around 19 days back...n still there is pain from cuts n incisions especially around my rib area...when will this pain get over??what should I do to get over this kind of discomfort??
Answer: Gynecomastia Thanks for the question. All surgical procedures have some degree of discomfort. Compared to abdominal, orthopedic or chest surgery, breast procedures are less painful. The post op pain can often be controlled with over the counter pain relievers or a short prescription of narcotic pain pills. I wish you all the best.

Answer: Recovery and Discomfort Following Gynecomastia Surgery Bruising and #swelling are normal and usually increase slightly after the removal of any tape or foam. The bruising will decrease over 3-4 weeks, but may last as long as 6 weeks. The majority of the swelling will be gone within the first 3-4 weeks. However, it may take 6-9 weeks to disappear completely. Also, as you heal, the area may feel “lumpy” and irregular. This, too, decreases with time, and massaging these areas will help soften the scar tissue. The #compression garment helps reduce the swelling, and the longer it is worn, the more quickly you will #heal. It can also assist in the retraction of the skin. Additionally, your doctor may place tape or foam over the incisions, which can be removed on day 3 or 4, before your first post-op appointment. If you have any concerns about #healing, its best to ask questions of your surgeon or their nursing staff.

Answer: Pain after male breast reduction It is not uncommon to still have post op pain at 2 1/2 weeks. Pain in the rib area is pretty common and may feel like deep bruising (which is kind of is) or may hurt worse when you take a deep breath. I allow my patients to start taking non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs at one week. Medicines like advil, ibuprofen, naprosyn work very well for musculoskeletal pain. The ribs and the muscles around the ribs can get a little beat up with liposuction and it can take a while to heal. Hang in there.
