I got a punch on left side of my nose. It bruised my left eyelid & the area is swollen. I used ice for 3 days. What can I do?

In a week bruising and swelling recovered,but nose was paining.slowly level of pain reduced but not fully & clicking noise was coming when touched.after 21 days of injury,pain,cracking noise is there and my nose is tilted towards right.i consulted an ENT Dr.and he cofirmed the deviation & said that a fracture is wrongly healed.as per him everything is fine with nose,ear,vision and other facial bones except around one degree of nose deviation to right,fixing needs surgery.what to do.

Thank you for your question.It sounds like you have already been properly evaluated by an ENT, and you aren't likely to have any long-term functional issues.  Your options are to let the nose continue to heal in that position, or to have surgery to straighten your nose.  Really, that will be up to you to determine how much that bothers you, and whether you want to undergo a surgery to correct it.  I would continue to talk with your ENT doctor about the options so you can make the decision that's best for you.

Based on your description, it sounds as if your nose was broken after the punch you received.  You have already been evaluated by an ENT doctor who said you have a fracture with a deviation.  The only way to repair this would be with surgery.  Your options would be to leave your nose the way it is or have surgery to repair it and fix the deviation.

If a fracture is causing devation then you would need to decide if you want to go forward with an operation to set your nose straight. You would need an evaluation to determine if it is causing airway restriction as well which would entail an examination and a possible CT scan. Best of luck. Dr. Michael Omidi

A  rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish re-setting the broken nose straight. Osteotomies placed in the nasal bones are required to accomplish this. Sometimes a cartilage graft is also required on the upper lateral cartilages when they have been fractured off of the nasal bone.
