i have not been massaging 5 times a day as suggested. i do not have lumps or sorness after 2 days. this is my 2nd set of injections in the cheek and nasal fold areas. it is very soft and smooth under the skin. i am wondering if i will have future negative results by not massaging??
Answer: Massaging after Sculptra Although I do recommend massage after Sculptra, I would say that the importance depends partially on how much Sculptra was put into which location. If I am going for more of a fully corrected look and am using 2 vials, then I do encourage the massage and emphasize the need to be consistent. The massage is not imperative for Sculptra to work, however. I do feel that the injection techniques are going to be the biggest determinant on whether you develop lumps or bumps associated with Sculptra.

Answer: Sculptra massage vs no massage When Sculptra was originally indicated for aesthetic re-volumization, it was administered in a high concentration and sometimes in superficial planes of the skin. This led to an increased risk of nodule formation and therefore the recommendation to follow a 5x5x5 rule for massage. However, with increased experience utilizing Sculptra, techniques for preparing the medication and administering it have greatly improved. If done properly, the strict massage protocol is probably no longer necessary. The most important thing is to find an experienced injector who is intimately familiar with the most recent expert guidelines on how to use Sculptra.

Answer: Are negative results possible if not massaging after Sculptra treatment? I would agree that most patients treated with Scuptra, by physicians who are experienced with the procedure for injecting it, do not develop lumps or nodules. I believe the most important massage is the one done by the physician immediately after the injection. The massage done by the patient may not be critical in the results, but the company that makes Sculptra does recommend it for the first 5 days. The massage should not cause any harm so it is probably best to go ahead and do it. I do not believe that you would have caused any negative results by not massaging.

Answer: Massaging and sculptra sculptra comes as a powder and gets mixed prior to injection. those powder particles are what causes the collagen to form. it is best to do the massage aggressively to help make sure those particles get evenly distributed and lumps done form. while its great you did not get any lump after the injection, i would still stronly encourage massage after subsiquent inections.

Answer: Sculptra and massaging The fact is that very few people get nodules if done by an experienced physician with Sculptra. However, studies show there to be lower incidence if you massage. You probably haven't caused any problems, but it's best to do the massaging as prescribed.
