How long after a breast reduction before I can get a dog ear corrected?

I recommend approximately 6 months before any revisions.  When my patients have dog ears, I correct them for free under local anesthesia.  However, if I had a patient who need a dog ear corrected, it would be less than $1,000 (both) or $500 (one).Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Hello and thank you for your recent question!  I would wait to revise any surgery until after 6 months.  As far as pricing that can range per practice and I would recommend a consult with a surgeon of your choice that way they could give you a more accurate fee.  Best of luck !

Small dog-ears may be managed conservatively and observed. Wait six months for the appearance to diminish. Massage and steroid injections may help. A minor scar revision can always be performed in the office setting under local anesthetic. The excision makes the incision and resultant scar a little longer but it is usually worth it for the smoother contour. Your original PS would probably do it for free or a minimal amount.  Go to some consultations with board certified PS in your geographical area to determine the cost.

Most surgeons usually wait 6 months after the procedure to allow for swelling to subside before addressing any corrections.  It is best to discuss these issues with your plastic surgeon on your next follow up appointment.

A small dog ear medially is not at all uncommon following breast reduction.   I would perform this under local anesthesia.   The cost would not be too bad but of course if I were the original surgeon this would be done at no cost.

Every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Most will recommend you to wait until you are fully healed. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Generally speaking, revisional surgery should be delayed until adequately healed and stabilized. This point (while different for everyone)  is typically reached by 6 months post op.
With regards to your specific question, costs will vary. Small dog ears can often be excised under local anesthesia (thus limiting costs).
As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

We usually wait for 6 months prior to any revision procedures allowing the wounds to heal.  Dog ears may be treated with liposuction plus or minus excision.  Many times both of these procedures may be performed under local anesthesia so the fees are not very high.Best of luck with your revision.Dr T

I would wait at least 6 months after surgery before considering any type of revision surgery. Consult with a plastic surgeon in your area for pricing and to discuss surgery.
