I am aware this is a high risk operation but the fat must be removed my health depends on it. If a surgeon was to remove my stomach muscle and gain full access to the visceral fat layers then could the fat be removed.
Answer: Visceral fat Hi there,I am sure that your life does not depend upon surgical removal of your visceral fat.Intra abdominal fat is never removed simply to remove it or as a method of weight loss, as surgically removing it would serve no purpose. If you are overweight, and you deposit fat inside the abdominal cavity the only practical method of removal is weight loss. This can be done through rational dieting - calorie reduction - or if you're very overweight, through weight reduction surgery such as a gastric sleeve.Effective weight reduction will reduce the volume of your intraabdominal fat. All the very best,Howard WebsterPlastic Surgeon.

Answer: Visceral fat removal? There are two kinds of fat intra-abdominal/visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is amenable to surgical removal via cosmetic procedures i.e. liposuction. Visceral fat (the type that collects around the abdominal organs) can only be addressed by traditional weight loss (diet and exercise). This fat is typically considered a sign of underlying health issues (rather than the cause). The visceral fat, itself, is not the problem. Lifestyles which predispose one to collecting intra-abdominal fat are risk factors for such medical issues as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: Weight loss No is the simple answer. There are no short cuts. Visceral fat can only be removed by generalised weight loss. If you are struggling with this then you need to seek expert advise (& not plastic surgery). You should discuss options with your GP & maybe consider seeing a bariatric surgeon. Good luck with your journey.

Answer: Removal of visceral fat Thanks for your question, but as many of my colleagues have suggested, there is no surgical procedure to remove visceral fat. Only a healthy lifestyle with thoughtful diet and exercise can improve visceral fat. If you were considering an investment in cosmetic surgery, consider investing in a nutritionist and personal trainer. That would be making an investment in yourself and your future, as good habits for a lifetime will certainly improve not just your appearance, but your heath and well being. Best of luck.
