I was wondering how long will I have to wait until I can actually go out into the sun ie: pool and beach?

I had a light chemical peel the 19th of April.After the peeling phase, I did have some reaction to sun exposure, which produced a rash like reaction that went away after washing my face and applying moisturizer. I'm asking when I don't have to worry about having that kind of reaction happen to me, since the reaction does seem to itch.

After a light chemical peel, patients have to avoid the sun for about a week or two. After a medium or deep peel it is best to avoid the sun for about one to three months. This allows fresh new skin to heal properly.

Hello and thank you for your question. An exfoliating treatment like a chemical peel makes your skin much more vulnerable to sun damage, as it sounds like you have already discovered. I tell my patients to use sunscreen for a few weeks after treatment to avoid excess damage. You should wear sunscreen all the time to avoid UV damage and early signs of aging, however.
