Best treatment for defined cheekbones/jawline? (Photo)

Question

Unfortunately, I have inherited full face/puffy cheeks (even when I was at my ideal weight of 115lbs I never had a slim face). I am currently around 135 lbs and I'm 5'4...My face has always made me look heavier than I am. Without the obvious answer of weight loss, what are the best treatments for a more defined jawline and cheekbones? The woman in the picture is not me! It's a celebrity but her before pic resembles my chubby face shape and I would love to look like her slimmed face after pic on the right.

Based on the photos provided (with the understanding that these are not your photographs), those types of changes can be made through buccal fat removal. Some patients will also need augmentation of the upper cheek area through filler injections, but this is something that can be performed at a later date. Some surgeons are against buccal fat removal all together due to the risk of making the face look too gaunt as the aging process continues through the decades, but I think that in the right patient, buccal fat removal can be helpful.I would recommend an in-person consultation to discuss the types of changes you are looking to make and review the options in detail.Be sure to see an expert surgeon who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures.All the best,

For a more defined jawline to strengthen your profile (and help prevent the dreaded jawline "jowl" sagging), we use injectable fillers like Revanesse Versa - a filler known to limit swelling and give subtle, soft enhancements - or Radiesse. Using a cannula to limit pain and swelling, we inject on the bone in strategic points to get more lift and shaping, resulting in a more contoured lower face and defined, structured jawline. Buccal fat excision is an appropriate surgical procedure for patients that of overly full and wide cheek areas. In common terms, it is good for patients who have chipmunk cheeks. In reviewing your pictures, is difficult to tell if you're a good candidate because your cheek area is slightly full but not overly full. Implants or fillers are good options for improving symmetry. Liposuction can also slim the face and jawline. You are a patient that would need an in person consultation for a complete evaluation and explanation of the positives and negatives of these procedures in your situation.

A defined jawline  can be achieved by Dysport® and Radiesse® injections along the jawline, while sculpted cheeks are best achieved with Voluma®. Ms. Hadid's  before picture was taken when she was much younger than her after picture. I suspect her face slimmed somewhat throughout her teens, not just from procedures. As these are advanced procedures, please consult a board certified aesthetic dermatologist for a consultation.

A full set of facial photographs are required to make a determination about how to proceed. Definition in the jawline could be accomplished with a neck lift procedure which includes fat removal above and below the platysma muscle in addition to a platysma plasty.
